On March 26, 2023, during a Sunday sermon, Metropolitan Longin of Banceni said that if the persecution of the Church in Ukraine does not stop, we will have a famine.

During Sunday's sermon, Metropolitan Longin said that "if the time comes and the monks are driven out of the Lavra, then the wrath of the Lord will come upon our land and we will see that there can be nothing more terrible."

"If the Lord takes away His water, what will you do? And if there is no bread? Brothers and sisters, there will be very big bloodshed if we do not calm down and fight against God. The Earth is already in the blood, but it is terrible what is awaiting us…You should not fight with God, with His Church and faith. I ask you very much. Remember my words – there will be famine," said the bishop.

He also appealed to the authorities of Ukraine "not to raise their hands against God, against His ministers, against the Church of God."

"There are so many of us. And if you are the guarantor of the Constitution, then please protect the Ukrainian people," Metropolitan Longin said, addressing the President of Ukraine.

According to Metropolitan Longin, if the authorities drive the monks out of the Kyiv Caves Lavra, God will leave Ukraine as well.
