On June 18, 2020, speaking to those gathered at the building of the Pechersk District Court in Kiev, Petro Poroshenko stated that a criminal case had been brought against him because of the Tomos. The developments at the court, which should impose a pre-trial restraint on the ex-president on account of the illegal appointment of the head of the Foreign Intelligence Service, Sergei Semochko, are broadcast by Priamy TV channel.

“It turns out that another case has been opened against me,” the ex-president said addressing his supporters. “It’s called, I quote verbatim – I’m not making anything up – “For inciting religious hatred by receiving the Tomos and creating the Orthodox Church of Ukraine”! Poroshenko should be sent to jail for this! Who do these henchmen serve? Do they serve Ukraine?”

As reported by the UOJ, the OCU, previously created by the efforts of Petro Poroshenko, declared its distrust of the justice system in Ukraine and said that “political persecution” of the former president of Ukraine is untenable.
