SBU detains UOC priest in Sumy region on charges of treason

A UOC priest suspected of working for Russian special services.

The SBU has detained the rector of one of the UOC churches in the Shostka district, Sumy region, on suspicion of high treason, reports the SBU press service.

The agency said that the priest was collecting data on the deployment of command posts and warehouses of artillery weapons of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

"SBU officers detained the offender when he attempted to hand over classified information on officials of local military administrations to the aggressor. <...> During searches at his residence address and in the temple, law enforcers found: mobile phones with evidence of correspondence with the FSB and pro-Russian literature," the SBU added.

As reported, the SBU searched churches and monasteries of the UOC in nine regions.
