His Beatitude expresses his condolences over tragedy in Brovary

On the morning of January 18, a helicopter with the Interior Ministry leadership on board crashed into the territory of a kindergarten in Brovary.

On January 18, the Primate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry expressed his condolences over the helicopter crash in Brovary, Kyiv region, reports the UOC Informational and Educational Department.

The Primate noted that the plane crash claimed the lives of the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Denis Monastyrsky, First Deputy Minister Yevhen Enin, State Secretary of the Ministry Yuriy Lubkovych, their assistants and the helicopter crew. Tragically, children and adults who were in the kindergarten, where this unfortunate event occurred, were killed. A large number of the injured have been admitted to hospitals.

"It is difficult to express the pain we felt upon learning of what happened. Please accept our heartfelt condolences. In these difficult circumstances, it is especially important for each of us to share the suffering of those touched by this misfortune to the best of our abilities. May the Merciful Lord accept the dead in His Fatherly embrace, heal the wounds of the wounded, comfort the hearts of the grieving and give us all strength of spirit to overcome with dignity this terrible trial," said His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry.

As reported, on the morning of January 18, a helicopter crashed on the grounds of a kindergarten in Brovary, near Kyiv. It was soon found out that Interior Minister Denys Monastyrsky, his deputy Yevhen Yenin, State Secretary Yuriy Lubkovych and the crew were on board and died. The State Emergency Service reported that a total of 14 people were killed, including 1 child, and 25 people were injured, of whom 11 were children.

On 15 January, during the Divine Liturgy, His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry offered prayers for the health of the injured and the repose of the dead in Dnipro.
