His Beatitude, Metropolitan Onuphry, during his Sunday sermon on January 15, 2023, expressed condolences to the families, who lost their relatives and victims of the January 14 shelling of the city of Dnipro, reports the UOC Information and Educational Department.

The Primate also appealed to the leadership of the Russian Federation.

"For Christ's sake, stop shooting our people. God gave us life, no need to take it from us because the one who takes someone else's life, to the same extent will be measured by God – he will lose his life. Even for a drop of blood, one will have to answer to God. Therefore, for Christ's sake, stop shooting and killing our people! God did not create us to kill one another but to live in peace with each other. We are children of the same Father and God wants us to tolerate each other, to help each other, not to bomb each other, but to support each other. I think that our voice will be heard, I pray and ask God for this," said His Beatitude.

The Archpastor strengthened the flock, reminding them that the power of God keeps Ukraine safe.

"We will not be broken by the enemy, and we will live and glorify God, enjoy peace, joy and quiet life," the Primate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church added.
