On Easter night, services in most Ukrainian churches were held without quarantine violations. This was announced on April 19, 2020 by the Head of the National Police of Ukraine Igor Klimenko, reports the National Police Communication Department.

In total, festive services were held in 13,658 churches in all regions of the country, 26,500 police and military personnel of the National Guard of Ukraine ensured security and order.

“Almost 130,000 citizens took part in the worship services,” said the Head of the National Police. “And today we can say that citizens proved to be legally conscious and took heed of our calls to adhere to quarantine restrictions. However, over the course of the day, cases of the presence of more than 10 believers in churches, including without personal protective means in 19 religious buildings in 13 regions, were recorded. The police made up three administrative records and one criminal proceeding was launched. The remaining materials are carefully studied to make a lawful decision. The police continue to work in a reinforced regime.”

As reported by the UOJ, earlier the Head of the National Police praised the UGCC for high social responsibility.
