On Sunday April 19, 2020, the Orthodox Church celebrates the main Christian holiday – the Easter.

On this day, believers recall the Resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ from the dead after His passions, death on the Cross and a three-day stay in the tomb.

The Resurrection of Christ is a pivotal event of the Holy History, which is described by all four evangelists – Matthew (Chapter 28), Mark (Chapter 16), Luke (Chapter 24) and John (Chapter 20).

Festive divine services are held and the Catechetic Word for Easter by St. John Chrysostomon is read aloud on this day in all Orthodox temples.

The celebration of the Resurrection of Christ continues throughout the coming week – the Bright Week. On Easter days, believers greet each other with a joyful triumphant exclamation “Christ is Risen!” – “Truly He is Risen!” Orthodox say these words starting from Easter night and for another forty days – until the Leavetaking of Pascha, the Feast of the Ascension of the Lord.

We congratulate all Orthodox Christians on the Holy Resurrection of Christ – the Easter of the Lord! Christ is Risen!
