Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Oleksiy Danilov commented on the decision of the Constitutional Court of December 27 to rename the UOC and called on the Church "not to hide its affiliation with the Moscow Patriarchate." He stated this on the air of the telethon of the Rada channel.

Commenting on the decision of the Constitutional Court, Danilov said that the UOC should not hide its connection and affiliation to the Moscow Patriarchate.

“Our society after February 24 demands justice. And if you hide your belonging to the Moscow Patriarchate, to connections with people who pray on the territory of Russia for Russian soldiers to kill us, then how can you even look in the eye?” he questioned.

Speaking about the request of the Abbot of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra to the President, in which the hierarch of the UOC asks not to take away the temples of the Lavra from the Church, he advised the UOC to turn to its conscience and not hide its name.

“You turn to your conscience first. Why are you hiding your name? It's not fair, people should know where they go. If you have no relationship, then officially disassociate yourselves, say that Putin is Satan and Kirill is Satan. Call a spade a spade, and then it will be fair,” said Danilov.

Earlier, the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council stated the need to "separate religion and civilians holding certain positions in the church, who may possibly work for the aggressor state."

As reported by the UOJ, on December 27 the Constitutional Court of Ukraine made a decision in the case on the constitutional submission of 49 MPs of Ukraine on the compliance of the Constitution of Ukraine with the Law of Ukraine "On Amendments to Article 12 of the Law of Ukraine ‘On Freedom of Conscience and Religious Organizations’."
