Metropolitan Onuphry to make a three-day visit to Montenegro

The visit of the Primate of the UOC, His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry of Kiev and All Ukraine, to Montenegro will take place on February 27–29, 2020, reports the UOC Information and Education Department.

Accompanied by the bishops of the UOC, His Beatitude Onuphry will arrive in Montenegro to celebrate the feast day of St. Simeon the Myrrh-streaming, the father of St. Sava of Serbia. In 2019, it’s 800 years since the time when St. Sava became the first Serbian bishop.

On the evening of February 27, the Primate of the UOC together with Metropolitan Amfilohije (Radović) of Montenegro and the Littoral will lead litiya in the square of the Cathedral of the Resurrection of Christ in Podgorica.

On February 28, a delegation of the UOC, led by His Beatitude Onuphry, will visit the Cetinje Monastery, where he will venerate the holy relics of St. Peter of Cetinje. The bishops will also visit the metropolitan residence of the head of the Montenegro- Littoral Metropolis, Bishop Amfilohije.

In the afternoon, a press conference is scheduled at which the Primate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church will answer questions from Montenegrin media representatives.

On February 29, His Beatitude Onuphry, concelebrated by the bishops of the Ukrainian and Serbian Orthodox churches, will lead the Divine Liturgy at the Cathedral of the Resurrection of Christ in Podgorica, the capital of Montenegro, after which the cross procession will take place.

As reported, on February 26, 2020, the Primate of the UOC, His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry, took part in a meeting of Primates of the Local Orthodox Churches in the capital of Jordan, Amman. The UOJ broadcast the events online.
