The head of the OCU Epiphany Dumenko thanked US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo for his years-long support. This was said by the head of the newly created religious organization on his Facebook page.

In particular, on October 22, 2019, as part of the visit of the OCU head to the United States, he had a meeting with Mike Pompeo, during which Dumenko “expressed gratitude for the years-long solidarity and reliable bipartisan support of the United States, which is extremely important for strengthening Ukraine’s independence”.

In addition, according to the head of the OCU, he “informed the US Secretary of State about the challenges facing the Orthodox Church of Ukraine” and also told him about the situation with regard to the OCU that has developed in the Crimea and the Donbass.

It is reported that "in turn, Mike Pompeo emphasized that the United States has protected and will protect the right of everyone to freedom of religion and a possibility to pray in accordance with their choice".

Earlier, the UOJ wrote that according to the OCU "hierarch" Makary Maletich, the Phanar granted the Tomos because it was sure of the support of the United States.
