On August 25, 2019, the delegation of Chernovtsy-Bukovina Eparchy of the UOC took part in the celebration of the 90th birthday of Archbishop Pimen (Zainea) of Suceava and Radauti of the Moldavian Metropolis of the Romanian Orthodox Church. It is reported by the diocesan press service.
The delegation was led by Metropolitan Meletiy of Chernovtsy and Bukovina who, with the blessing of the Primate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry of Kiev and All Ukraine, transferred a gift – the hierarch’s stick.
During their visit to Romania, representatives of the Chernovtsy-Bukovina eparchy prayerfully honored the relics of the patron saint of Bukovina – the great martyr John of Suceava.
“The Orthodox Churches are united by love, for them there are no borders or linguistic priorities, because they are based on Christ. Representatives of the Romanian Orthodox Church always prayerfully share our church holidays with us, in particular, the abbots of Putna and Sucevita monasteries,” emphasized the Chernovtsy-Bukovina eparchy and wished His Eminence Pimen, from whose hands the Holy Fire was transferred to the eparchy for Easter, many years of church ministry for the sake of Christ's Church.
Recall that the cleric of the OCU accused the Ukrainian Romanians of inciting ethnic hatred in Chernovtsy region.
