On August 15, 2019, eight activists broke into the building of the Chernovtsy Regional State Administration and demanded that the acting head of the administration, Mikhail Pavliuk, forcibly re-register the UOC communities in favor of the OCU, the press service of the Chernovtsy-Bukovina Eparchy reports.

“8 activists (volunteers) today burst into the office of the head of the region and demanded from the acting chairman of the Chernovtsy Regional State Administration, Mikhail Pavliuk, to immediately and urgently (because they need it) adopt raider decisions on the compulsory re-registration of the communities of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in favor of the new organization,” the eparchy writes.

The activists said they demand immediately, in 5 minutes, to re-register the temples of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, and only in this case they would leave: "We have come to chop off the tentacles of the Moscow Church and so there will be peace in Ukraine."

The press service of the eparchy commented on the situation: “A classical scheme when people who have nothing to do with the communities of Ryngach, Mikhailovka, Krasnaya Dubrava, Zadubrovka, Vaslovovtsy, who do not live there, do not go to church, decided that they have the right to decide on the fate of people in Bukovina.”

The diocese also recalled that criminal proceedings were opened on the facts of the seizure of churches, and hearings are pending in the courts.

As reported by the UOJ, the Chernovtsy Eparchy filed a complaint with the prosecutor’s office upon violations of the rights of the UOC communities.
