UOC to honour the memory of Metropolitan Vladimir who reposed 5 years ago

On Friday, July 5, 2019, the Ukrainian Orthodox Church will pray for its late Primate, His Beatitude Metropolitan Vladimir (Sabodan) of Kiev and All Ukraine: 2 requiem services will be served at his grave, reports the UOC Information Centre.

On the territory of the Holy Dormition Kiev-Pechersk Lavra near the Church of the Nativity of the Most Holy Theotokos at the tomb of Metropolitan Vladimir, the first memorial service will be served after the liturgy at the Holy Cross Church, which will begin at 6:30 in the morning.

The second service will be held after the liturgy at the Holy Dormition Cathedral of the Lavra, which will begin at 9:00.

His Beatitude Metropolitan Vladimir was born on November 23, 1935, in the village of Markovtsy, Khmelnitsky region. From 1992 to 2014, he carried out obedience as the Primate of the UOC, his pastoral work significantly increased the number of parishioners, established interfaith dialogue and stopped the spread of church schism in Ukraine. The late Archpastor carried his obedience until the last day of his life, although he was seriously ill. His Beatitude Vladimir reposed on July 5, 2014, in Kiev, and was buried near the walls of the Church of the Nativity of the Most Holy Theotokos in the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra.
