At the meeting of the “holy synod” of June 24, 2019, “patriarch” Filaret was deprived of the right to administer Kiev “eparchy” of the OCU, but was left in the “episcopate”. This is reported by the official site of the newly created religious organization.
The members of the “Holy Synod” of the OCU decided that “taking into account special merits in the past before the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, to state that Honorary Patriarch Filaret remains in the episcopate of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine, but loses the canonical rights and duties related to the administration of the eparchy”.
In a press release issued immediately after the meeting of the “holy synod” of the OCU, it was also said that all parishes and monasteries would come under the direct jurisdiction of Epiphany Dumenko.
In addition, the “synod” of the OCU has excluded from its “episcopate” “metropolitan” Joasaph Shibaev of Belgorod and Oboyan and “bishop” Peter Moskalev of Valuisk, a “vicar” of Belgorod “eparchy”.
Also, according to the decisions of the “synodal” members, “archimandrite” Andrei Marutsak and “hieromonk” Ilya Zelensky”, who had been “ordained” “bishops” of the UOC-KP on June 21 and 22, were banned from priesthood.
At the same time, the document states that "the meeting of those invited (by Filaret – Ed.) had no decision-making authority".
Earlier, the UOJ wrote that Epiphany Dumenko had stolen the seal of the Metropolitan of Kiev.
