24-hour prayer standing started at the walls of the Chernovtsy RSA

On May 18, 2019, the press service of the Chernovtsy-Bukovina Eparchy reported that Chernovtsy believers join the 24-hour prayer standing of the Holy Assumption Church community of the village of Tovtry of the Zastavna district, Chernovtsy region.

The believers say that prayer standing will continue “until all the raider orders of the acting governor Mikhail Pavliuk are cancelled".

“Come and support the believers of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. Unite in common prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ, so that the interfaith peace will finally reign in Bukovina and lawlessness will end.

Come at any time of the day, take tea and warm clothes. Psalms and akathists will be constantly read,” the eparchy’s message calls.

As the UOJ reported, on Saturday, May 18, at 11:00, law enforcers helped OCU supporters to seize the Holy Assumption Church in the village of Tovtry of the Zastavna district, Chernovtsy region. Representatives of the National Police formed a "human chain", pushing aside the religious community of the UOC and letting in the OCU activists who cut locks on the temple. In their actions, activists were guided by the illegal order of the acting governor of the Chernovtsy Regional State Administration Mikhail Pavliuk on the re-registration of the UOC religious community to the OCU.

The religious community of the UOC of the village of Tovtry, whose church was captured by OCU supporters, with the assistance of the authorities and the police, came to the RSA building. The UOC believers performed the evening Divine service outside the building of the Chernovtsy RSA because now they have no place for worship.
