Vladimir Zelensky meets with Epiphany Dumenko
Head of the OCU Epiphany Dumenko and newly-elected President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky
On April 30, the newly-elected President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky arrived at the St. Michael Golden-Domed Monastery to meet with the head of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine Epiphany Dumenko, reports the press service of the OCU on its Facebook page.
On his Twitter page, Epiphany said that, together with the new President, he intends to protect and multiply the achievements of Ukrainians: “I will pray that God will give the new head of state strength to bear the burden of responsibility for the unity of Ukraine. We must together protect and multiply what the Ukrainians have already achieved.”
On the eve of the presidential election, a scandal broke out because of the careless comparison of the Tomos with a thermos that Vladimir Zelensky made during one of his speeches. The “Honorary Patriarch” of the OCU Filaret Denisenko demanded that the winner of the presidential race should apologize to the Ukrainians, which, according to Filaret, was done in the end. In response, Filaret said that he forgave Zelensky.
We recall that during the presidential election there were many cases of direct and indirect propaganda of the "priests" and "bishops" of the OCU in favour of the current President Petro Poroshenko. Epiphany himself declared that in the future they see only Petro Poroshenko as the President of Ukraine and travelled with him on working trips around Ukraine, which were called in the media a Tomos-tour. Dumenko also stated that the place of Petro Poroshenko in history is near Prince Vladimir, Equal-to-the-Apostles.
