Head of Assembly on Orthodoxy thanks Church of Cyprus for supporting UOC

The head of the Assembly on Orthodoxy thanked the Church of Cyprus for supporting the UOC

The President of the Interparliamentary Assembly on Orthodoxy (IAO) Sergei Gavrilov met with His Beatitude Archbishop Chrysostomos II of New Justiniana and all of Cyprus in Limassol, reports rusnext.ru.

During the meeting, current issues related to the violation of the rights of Christians in the world were discussed.

“We see that overseas forces are making significant efforts to violate not only international but all-Christian unity by interfering in the internal affairs of countries and terror. We know that the Cypriot Orthodox Church defends the position of inter-Orthodox dialogue on the current situation in Ukraine, in which the secular authorities intervened in the affairs of the Orthodox Church. We are grateful for this support. ”

Sergey Gavrilov called the protection of human rights and the rights of Christians one of the main activities in modern conditions. He recalled that the Russian Orthodox Church is active in this area, defending the rights of people to the freedom of religion.

As the UOJ reported, earlier, Metropolitan Nikephoros of Kykkos and Tillyria has said that the bestowal of autocephaly to the OCU poisoned inter-Orthodox relations, the crisis situation is rapidly deteriorating and threatening with a new schism.
