At Triumph of Orthodoxy 7,000 believers join the cross procession in Rovno

Nearly 7 thousand participants with icons and a prayer walked along Sobornaya Street on the Week of the Triumph of Orthodoxy

The traditional procession in Rovno on the day of the Triumph of Orthodoxy gathered about 7,000 believers, the UOJ reports.

For the fourth year in a row, thousands of cross procession participants have walked with prayer along the main street of the regional center from Holy Resurrection Cathedral of Rovno city to St. George's metochion. Participants in the event note that their main goal is to show their unity and loyalty to the Orthodox Church, as well as to honor the icons, symbols of victory over the heresy of iconoclasm.

This year, more than twenty icons from local churches were festively decorated to participate in the religious procession. Among them were the miraculous icons, thanks to which people received incredible healings and particles of relics.

During the procession a lot of church chants sounded. Both the clergy and the laity prayed to the Mother of God, sang the Symbol of Faith, Our Father which sounded majestically and sublimely.

According to the participants of the procession, this year the procession became truly special, because people walked with their whole families, with small children, and unlike the Sunday worship services, which are mostly attended by women, there were a lot of men there.

In the open air at St. George's metochion a prayer service was held which, like the procession, was led by Bishop Pimen of Dubno, Vicar of the Rovno Diocese of the UOC. In his welcoming speech, Vladyka spoke about the history of the holiday and congratulated all those present wishing the believers humility, love and perseverance in the faith.

As the UOJ reported, in Odessa on the day of the Triumph of Orthodoxy, a citywide procession with a prayer for peace in Ukraine gathered more than 10 thousand believers.
