Athos hegumen not to attend Epiphany’s enthronement because of heart attack

Archimandrite Ephraim (Kutsu)

Archimandrite Ephraim arrived in Kiev to attend Sunday’s enthronement of “Metropolitan” Epiphany Dumenko of the OCU. However, he was urgently hospitalized today after suffering a heart attack, reports “Tsargrad”.

Doctors believe that Fr. Ephraim’s hospitalization could last indefinitely. Thus, his presence at the enthronement is hardly possible.

Archimandrite Ephraim has suffered heart attacks and has undergone a heart stent operation in the past.

Earlier, the abbot of Vatopedi has been vocal about his stance against the Ukrainian schismatics and called on the Ukrainian people to remain faithful to the canonical Church, the canonical primate and the canonical Synod.

Now he has ignored the decision of the Holy Kinot of Holy Mount Athos not to participate in the enthronement of Dumenko and arrived in Kiev.
