Сoordination meeting of three UOC eparchies to be held in Vinnitsa

The general meeting of bishops, clergy, and monastics of the three eparchies will be held in Vinnitsa for the first time

A general meeting of bishops, clergy, and monastics of the three eparchies will be held for the first time in Vinnitsa on 4 January, according to the decision of the Coordination Council.

“We hereby notify the clergy, monastics and faithful of the UOC of the Tulchin, Mogilev-Podolsky and Vinnitsa eparchies about the creation of the Coordination Council of canonical bishops of the UOC eparchies in the Vinnitsa region,” the joint statement of the bishops says.

Metropolitan Jonathan of Tulchin and Bratslav explained that the purpose of the Сouncil is to strengthen the spiritual foundations and canonical unity of the hierarchy and clergy of the Vinnitsa eparchies of the UOC and jointly search for answers to the challenges that arise in the religious life of the Vinnitsa region.

The Council will be headed by the ruling bishops of the Vinnitsa region eparchies: of Tulchin – Metropolitan Jonathan, of Mogilev-Podolsky – Metropolitan Agapit, and of Vinnitsa – Archbishop Varsonofy.

As the UOJ reported, Metropolitan Simeon (Shostatsky), previously banned from ministry, appealed to the Vinnitsa city court of the Vinnitsa region with a claim to be reinstated as the ruling bishop of the Vinnitsa eparchy. Simeon also obtained in court a ban on all subjects of state registration to make changes regarding the leadership of church organizations as it relates to the Vinnitsa eparchy of the UOC
