Zoria passes off domestic quarrel in Ptichya as persecution of UOC KP

Spokesperson of the UOC KP Yevstratiy Zoria

The spokesperson of the UOC KP Yevstratiy Zoria reported on his Facebook page that in the village of Ptichya, “a woman, who had been taught hatred towards ‘schismatics’ by her leaders, attacked a believer of the Kiev Patriarchate”.

At the same time, Zoria referred to journalist Alina Dubovskaya, who said on October 8 that the UOC believer, Valentina Diachuk, “waited in the field and almost killed a believer of the Kiev Patriarchate because of her religious preferences”. The supporter of the UOC KP Galina Gimel then went to the police.

Thanks to the spokesperson of the UOC KP, this story has become so widespread that it has even been published on the Greek resource “Fanarion”, which covers the life of the Constantinople Church.

In an analytical article on the situation of Orthodoxy in Ukraine, the author wrote: “Instead of an epilogue: clashes began between various groups of believers in Ukraine. A supporter of the Moscow Church in Kiev jabbed a follower of the self-proclaimed Kiev Patriarchate! with a pitchfork.”

However, as reported by the mass media, the law enforcers did not confirm the attack.

“No one fought there,” said Olga Angelova, a spokeswoman for the police communications department. “Women were not in the church. They quarrelled with each other. One woman had high blood pressure and was taken to hospital. I cannot deny the fact that the two neighbours argued over the church. One of the women took the ambulance. She had hypertension. The women provided explanations. They have no complaints against each other.”
