UOC decides to glorify new miraculous icons

The Synod of the UOC held a session at the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra

On September 25, the Holy Synod of the UOC decided to glorify new miraculous icons, reports the UOC Information and Education Department.

The UOC will glorify the Trigorye Icon of the Mother of God, which is located in the Savior-Transfiguration Monastery of vlg.Trigorye, Zhitomir region (Journal No. 26); the icon of the Mother of God "Sole Hope of the Despairing" from the church of the Holy Great Martyr Demetrios of Thessalonici in Askania-Nova of the Kherson region (Journal No. 27); the Gorodnitsa Icon of the Mother of God "Assuage My Sorrows", which is located in St George's Stauropegial Monastery of Gorodnitsa, Zhitomir region (Journal No. 28).

For these icons, the following commemoration days are set: August 20 – the Day of the Trigorye Icon of the Mother of God, November 18 – the Day of the Icon of the Mother of God " Sole Hope of the Despairing" and February 7 – the Day of the Gorodnitsa Icon of the Mother of God "Assuage My Sorrows".

Also, the Holy Synod urged the Patriarchate of Constantinople to stop interfering in the internal affairs of the UOC.

As reported by the UOJ, a session of the Holy Synod of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church was held on September 25 at the residence of the Primate of the UOC in the territory of the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra. The session was chaired by His Beatitude Metropolitan Onufry of Kiev and All Ukraine.
