Youth camp nearly crushed by radicals in Chernigov region, – UOC hierarch

Orthodox youth camp of the UOC in Nezhin eparchy

The nationalists threatened His Eminence himself because of the youth camp and beat the editor of the local newspaper for writing an article about the children’s holiday time. This was reported by the head of the Information and Educational Department of the UOC Archbishop Clement of Nezhin and Priluki on the air of the 112-Ukraine TV channel.

"This, for some reason, caused a wave of outrage among local national radicals, in particular the Svoboda party and other nationalist groups. They uttered their threats first to me, then decided to visit the youth camp. Fortunately, they miscalculated: the camp finished work a day earlier, otherwise I do not know what it would be," said the Bishop.

The Archpriest also said that not having found the children in the camp, on July 25, 30 radicals broke into the Borzniansk district state administration, beat the editor-in-chief of the local newspaper for writing about the children’s rest.

In addition, Archbishop Clement said that the nationalists threatened local carriers they would burn their buses if they took the believers of the UOC to the procession to Kiev.

The summer Orthodox youth camp "On the Sea of Galilee" in the village of Grishovka in Chernigov region began its work on July 16. The camp accommodated more than 100 young men and women from all regions of the Nezhin eparchy for prayer and rest in a picturesque place near the Trubin River.

Earlier in Kiev, radicals from the S14 broke into the Goloseevo Monastery "to harass and bully" monks.
