UOC KP spokesperson says who they see at the head of SLC

Press Secretary of the UOC KP Eustratiy Zoria

The press secretary of the UOC KP expressed his thoughts on this matter during a web conference on RISU on the topic: "Ukrainian Orthodoxy in a step from the Tomos on autocephaly."

"Undoubtedly, our Church sees Patriarch Filaret as the Primate of the autocephalous UOC, because he is the only one among the hierarchs who has the greatest experience and public authority," Eustratiy Zoria said. "Also, the leadership should include key persons among the hierarchs who do not belong to the Kiev Patriarchate now."

The spokesman of the Kiev Patriarchate assured that Constantinople does not object to the candidacy of Filaret.

"I want to emphasize: there are no reservations, objections or other conditions on the part of Constantinople that would make it impossible to elect Patriarch Filaret the Primate of the autocephalous UOC," Zoria said. "I would also like to recall that, from the point of view of the canonical order, Patriarch Filaret was not condemned by a real church court, the due process was not observed. Therefore, the sanctions on the part of the ROC to him are initially null and void. All the relevant information on this matter is at the disposal of the Ecumenical Patriarchate, including a canonical appeal to the Ecumenical Patriarch on the decision of the ROC."

Further, the KP spokesperson said that finally all personnel issues would be resolved after the bestowal of the Tomos on autocephaly.

Primates of the Churches, including those belonging to the jurisdiction of the Patriarchate of Constantinople, are negative about the idea of granting autocephaly to schismatics.
