Expert: Constantinople Patriarchate made it clear that it does not recognize UOC-KP

Constantinople made it clear that the Kyiv Patriarchate will not receive recognition from its hands and that the problem of the schism of Ukrainian Orthodoxy should be resolved by representatives of the UOC-KP in a dialogue with the Church from which they had broken away. This was stated by journalist Sergei Nazarchuk, writes the Information and Education Department of the UOC.

According to him, the outcome of the meeting between Metropolitan Anthony and Patriarch Bartholomew became a "cold shower" for those who are trying to solve the problems of schism in Ukrainian Orthodoxy in an administrative rather than a church field.

"For example, such a position of authoritative hierarchs directly contradicts the views of people's deputy Viktor Yelensky, who recently at a meeting of the thematic human rights club on" Actual issues of freedom of religion and belief in Ukraine" stated that the theme of autocephaly has nothing to do with theological issues and is pure politics," the journalist stressed.

On December 17, the Chancellor of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church Metropolitan Anthony of Boryspil and Brovary met with the Patriarch of Constantinople Bartholomew in his residence at Phanar, while on a visit to Istanbul. During the meeting, the sides discussed the situation in Ukrainian Orthodoxy.
