Regardless of the status in society, man should remember about humility, – Primate of UOC (VIDEO)

The man should be humble, holding even the highest position in society. This was said by His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphrius during his sermon on Great Thursday in the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra, reports the Information and Education Department of the UOC.

The Primate said that when "the Lord washed his disciples' feet, he set an example, first of all, to those who have power".

According to the Archpastor, those people who occupy high positions in the society should wash their feet to ordinary people. He also said why no one should be proud of their status.

"If a person who has power does not humble himself, then when he loses his post – and this can happen to anyone (we come naked into the world, and we leave the world light as well), then for him/her this loss can become a tragedy, – said His Beatitude. – When we lose everything that made us high-ranked in this society, this tragedy can even break us."

According to His Beatitude, "so that this does not happen, the man must humble himself, holding even the highest position in human society".

"May the Lord help us, dear brothers and sisters, that we learn to humble ourselves in our lives, so that we learn to "wash our feet". This is difficult to do, especially at first. But here there is rather a psychological barrier. When the man starts to humble himself, to behave naturally, simply, he finds peace in it. And it turns out to be quite easy. For where there is humility, there is God's grace," concluded Metropolitan Onuphry.
