Holy Fire to be delivered to Orthodox temples of London

The Emperor’s Orthodox Palestinian Society will deliver Holy Fire from Jerusalem to Russian parishes of Great Britain. It is reported by RIA News.

Holy Fire descends on Saturday every year on the eve of Easter following prayers of thousands of Orthodox believers in the Holy Sepulchre Church. On April 16 a direct flight from Israel is going to deliver the Fire in special capsule-lamps designed in the “Olympic” style. Then it will be immediately dispatched to the Holy Assumption and Saint Royal Martyrs Cathedral.

The history of the Emperor’s Orthodox Palestinian Society which celebrates its 135 anniversary is inextricably connected with the British Royal Family. Great Princess Elizabeth Romanova – second Chair of the Society – was a granddaughter of Queen Victoria. Executed after the revolution of 1917 by Bolsheviks, she was sanctified as a saint martyr of the ROC and her saint relics are kept at the nunnery in Gethsemane on the Holy Land.
