Criminal liability for discrimination against homosexuals introduced in Greece

In Greece, discrimination against "same-sex marriage" will become subject to criminal prosecution. A new bill was strongly criticized by Metropolitan Nicholas Metropolitan of Fthiotida of the Greek Orthodox Church, reports Agionoros with reference to Romfea.

Metropolitan Nicholas Metropolitan of Fthiotida sharply criticized the bill: "This destruction of the foundations, filth and perversion will destroy our society. Can social life stand on immorality and unnatural life? The Church will undertake the task of informing the people. "

Under these conditions, according to Vladyka, "we must hold the traditions. We will tell the truth about what a real marriage is. Free cohabitation and same-sex partnerships – what is this? It all came from Europe, and you know the morality of leaders and legislators there. "

Within the framework of the bill on "Protection of the rights of minorities", designed to stop ongoing lawsuits and sanctions by the European Union, same-sex marriage law is intended to defend gay marriages in Greece.

On a list of planned novelties there is an initiation to equate "free cohabitation" to marriage. Also those who enter the "free cohabitation" (including same-sex couples) will be guaranteed all the labor rights and the right to family benefits and other privileges.

Discriminatory actions based on religion or sexual preferences will be punished with imprisonment from 6 months to three years and a fine of 1,000 to 5,000 euros.
