People's deputy from the BPP declares church promised to UOC community

People’s deputy from the Petro Poroshenko Bloc (BPP) and former (in Soviet times) first secretary of the Central Committee of Komsomol of Ukraine Anatoliy Matvienko entered a church in the declaration-2015. The declaration is available on the website of the registry for civil servants declarations, informs Strana.UA

The list of real estate declared by the MP includes the Dormition of the Holy Virgin Church in the village of Byrlovka, Vinnitsa region.

Previously, the church has caused a huge scandal. Matvienko promised to hand over the temple, whose construction he has invested, to the UOC religious community, but later the deputy changed his mind. The faithful claimed for the church. Eventually, according to the declaration, the church remained in Matvienko’s possession (though he promised to grant it to the UOC local community).

As reported by the media, the chairman of the BPP faction in the Verkhovna Rada Ihor Hryniv in his e-declaration indicates copies of the old book "The Apostle" by Fedorov, issued in Lviv in 1574, as well as the Ostroh Bible of 1581.
