Bill 4128 is an attempt to legitimize the raid, - head of the legal department of the UOC

Bill 4128 is aimed to fix raider seizures of churches at the legislative level. This was said by the head of the Legal Department of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Archpriest Alexander Bakhov during the roundtable talk on the topic "Legal regulation of the religious sphere of Ukraine: current problems and challenges," which was held yesterday.

The expert stressed that bill 4128, in fact, grossly interferes in the affairs of a religious community, violating its autonomy.

"We see that everything that is happening now is an attempt to legalize raider seizures of churches, which erupted with a peculiar force in the Western Ukraine starting in 2014. Then people conducted unauthorized and illegal voting on the change of religious affiliation. They simply need a base that would enable them to act under the current legislation," said the head of the Legal Department of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church Alexander Bakhov.

Participants of the roundtable talk found it necessary not to allow the consideration of draft laws that could lead to conflicts in the sphere of religion and public life and adversely affect the international image of Ukraine.

The roundtable was organized under the auspices of Interfractional association "deputy association of reforming the tax, customs and land legislation of Ukraine."
