OSCE mission discussed religious oppression with the clergy of Ternopil diocese of the UOC
August 16, representatives of the Ternopil diocese of the UOC discussed problems of religious oppression in the region with members of the Special OSCE monitoring mission in Ukraine, reports the Information and Education Department of the UOC.
During the dialogue, the parties discussed the issues of harassment of believers in the region, in particular cases of recent seizures of churches of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.
The attendees noted the need to resume the development of the special Memorandum, which would contribute to conflict prevention and rapid solution in case of seizure of religious buildings. Representatives of both sides expressed hope for further fruitful cooperation.
Earlier, the US State Department annual report on religious freedom in the world has criticized Ukraine for violating religious freedoms.
