Theology in Russia receives the official status of science
For many years the issue of introducing theology in secular institutes and universities has been heatedly debated in Russia. Recently, the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation has adopted a decision on assigning a degree to the representatives of this discipline, reports Market Leader.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation reported on the completion of the approval of the expert council board on theology at the Higher Attestation Commission. Many experts, commenting on this fact, say that first and foremost the introduction of theology as an academic discipline will contribute to the development of scientific works on the subject.
The final stage of the approval of theology as a science was the formation of the dissertation defense system on a theological discipline. Now HAC is authorized to assign academic degrees and academic titles in accordance with the approved order by the Ministry of Education and Science. However, the Ministry has not addressed the issue of controlling plagiarism yet.
Recall the idea of assignment of a scientific degree in theology was first proposed in 2007. It was initiated by the Russian Interreligious Council. The motive for these discussions was the need for the spiritual and moral education of the society, in particular, of a new generation.
