MPs want to return Kiev-Pechersk and Pochaev Lavras to the state
Ukrainian people’s deputies have prepared a bill "On the complex of the Kiev-Pechersk and Pochaev Lavras" which make the monasteries historical and cultural reserves, reports Informator.news.
Under the bill, the Kiev-Pechersk and Pochaev Lavras are supposed to return the status of historical and cultural reserves and go into the register of UNESCO monuments. MPs also want to make changes to the Laws of Ukraine "On Protection of Cultural Heritage" and "On Freedom of Conscience and Religious Organizations" in connection with the protection of architectural monuments, not subject to privatization.
Deputy Vladimir Parasiuk, individual MPs and representatives of almost all parliamentary factions and deputy groups, except "The Opposition Block", have worked on the above mentioned bills.
Recall that on 12 May, the Ternopil regional council appealed to the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko and the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine with the requirement to return the Pochaev Lavra the status of the state reserve.
